Oh my goodness, I am SO excited about the season finale of The Next Food Network Star this Sunday!
Me and my family have been watching since the beginning, and it’s been a blast. I can’t believe this will be the last episode. :/ I’ll be a little sad when it's over... this season has just been great!!

I'll admit, Jeff was not my favorite from the beginning, but he's definitely grown on me.
He's funny (with the exception of his All-Bran joke, of course :P), and I love how he calls himself the sandwich king. Plus, a show all about sandwiches is a great idea! I mean, who doesn’t love a good sandwich? :) He seems to have what it takes: Good show idea + delicious food + great personality
Go Jeff!!!

Susie

I've liked Susie from the first episode. She has gotten better and more focused as the weeks have gone
on too! She is so funny + energetic, and really sweet. Mexican food is her thing (love!), and most of her dishes have looked wonderful! I'm sure her show would be a lot of fun. :)

Vic

(aka, Mama's Boy)

Vic... this guy makes me laugh. He looks like such a tough guy, but he is so not like that. He's actually
a real "teddy bear", as Giada said in one of the earlier episodes. :) I can't believe he's in the finale.
To think that he almost got eliminated the first week of the competition! I'm so glad he turned things around.

1) Thanks!

First, I just wanna thank y'all for the sweet comments you left on my last post!! I really appreciated your thoughts and prayers. I've recovered just fine from my wisdom teeth extraction. The experience wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be... although I'm still very glad to have it over with! ;)

2) Driving.

Yep. I spent a few days last month at drivers ed class. I now have my permit, and my dad has been taking me out to do some practice driving. I've still got some stuff to learn, but I know it will get easier the more I do it. I've definitely come a long way from when I first drove with my teacher. lol :P It will be so nice to finally get my license. Right now I just need to practice, practice, practice though!

3) New blog button!

I now have a blog button to go with this design. All the credit goes to my sweet friend Julia. She designed it for me, without me even asking! I had tried designing a button for this design before, but I never could get it to look right. Now I have one that is just perfect! Thanks again, Julia!! ;)

4) Fourth of July pics.

Okay, so it's August 1st, and I'm just now getting around to posting the Fourth of Julys pics I mentioned in my last post. *facepalm* Yeah. At least I'm posting them at all! These were all taken on July 4th weekend, when we went on a little trip to a lake in our area. I decided to put al the pics in one simple slideshow, so they won't make this post super long. Just fyi, some of them aren't really edited. Yes, I was lazy. :P

And... that brings me to the end of this much needed update. I'm getting worse and worse at keeping my blog updated. I've thought about just switching to Tumblr, but our computer never cooperates when I get on there. o_o So.... I will be on blogger for the foreseeable future. I don't know if I could've brought myself to make the switch anyway (although tumblr seems way less time consuming than blogging, so I'd be more likely to post). But unless I can figure out a way to get it to run smoothly, I'll just stay here.

Wisdom Teeth

That's right - early this morning, I went to the dentist and had my wisdom teeth removed.

It wasn't too bad. Once he sedated me and gave me the IV, I was out. The next thing I really remember is waking up on my bed with a bunch of gauze in my mouth and ice packs on my cheeks. :P

Now that it's over, I just have to take the antibiotics and pain medicine. The next couple of days will probably be kind of painful, so if you could say a prayer for me, I'd really appreciate it! I still can't swallow pills (ah, frustrating!), so I'm having to take some yucky liquid medicine. Oh well. I'm just glad that's even an option!

Anyway, I have some pictures to share with y'all from a little "4th of July" day trip we took, but that will have to wait. Hopefully it won't take me too long to recover from this and get back to my normal life! :)

[Rural Life Museum]

Okay, I haven't totally forgotten about posting more pictures from our trip. It's just taking me awhile to get them all edited and organized. Yeah, I'm very slow. ^_^

But... I do have quite a few shots to show y'all today. I took these at a rural life museum we visited. It was a really neat place! They had a *beautiful* garden area, lots of old, historic buildings, and the museum itself was full of interesting things. There were carriages, old farming tools, furniture... there was so much to see, we didn't even get to look at it all!

Here are some of the many pictures I was able to get:

It's Saturday.

And I’m currently sitting here enjoying a yummy Icee. I was on Etsy, updating my shop info and looking at lots of pretty little things, and I thought, “Lindsay, you should really write a blog post.” And so... here I am, doing just that. :P

Since I'm feeling a bit random, here are a few completely unrelated things that are making me very happy right now:

The aforementioned Icee. Mmmm... :)

Pirates of the Caribbean. We went to see “On Stranger Tides” last week, and it was awesome!! Jack Sparrow is seriously the best. Gotta love that crazy pirate! ;) So yes… I really loved it, and I’m already looking forward to the next Pirate movie. hee hee

And speaking of POTC, this song is also making me happy. All the soundtracks to these movies are so great! The new one is amazing, of course… just like the other three. I don't think anything could top "Jack Sparrow" though. Best song ever.

Gorgeous roses. We have lots of pretty flowers blooming in our yard right now. They make every-thing look so bright and cheery! Roses are my favorite though. ♥

The fact that I will soon be learning how to drive. Yes! My mom ordered Driver’s Ed in a Box a few days ago, so it should be coming in the mail sometime next week. I’m sooo excited to finally learn how to drive. That will be a wonderful and happy feeling, for sure! :)

Sam. The cutest, funniest, most adorable cat ever! This picture I got of him seriously makes me smile every time I see it:

The weekend. Weekends are the best. And… since I’ll be busy with school through the summer, they will be just as wonderful over the coming weeks. Will any of you be doing school work over the summer like me? Anyone? ;)

This was one of those "I’m so glad I have my camera" moments.

I took these photos when we went to see Thor - one of my favorite parts of the trip, I might add.

The movie was great, the popcorn and Coke were dee-licious, and it was a really fun family outing! :)

This stunning chandelier was right outside the movie theater,

in the midst of many shops, and I just thought it was sooo pretty.

From the chandelier itself, to the medallion, and even to the ceiling design… I love it!

I'm Back!

Hey everyone,
Yes, I have returned to the blog world once more! I can't believe it's been over a month since I last posted. Really? :-o I apologize for my long absence. Life has been busy, as usual.

We actually took a trip down South last week, and we got to visit a lot of our relatives. We just got back home yesterday. It was really nice to get away for awhile, and spend some time with family, but of course it's good to be home too. ;)

Anyway, I've got some blog posts planned that I'll be putting together soon. I took tons and tons of pictures on our trip, and I'm working on getting some of those edited and posted. That will be up soon... pinky promise. ;)

Yes! Spring is finally here, and I'm just lovin' it!! The sunshine, the warmer weather, the soft breezes, oh... and the open windows. (Really, there's nothing better than letting in all that fresh air!) This is such a pretty time of year - I know I'm enjoying it. : )

My New Camera!

Yes! After much anticipation, my Canon Rebel T1i finally came in the mail last week!!

All I can really say is, I looovvve it.

It takes some amazing pictures, and it just makes me incredibly happy.

I have waited quite awhile for a dSLR camera, and it has been so worth it!

Yay. Thank you, Lord, for my Canon Rebel! : )

"Sherlock Holmes"

We just recently rented this movie from Netflix.

(This is the newest adaptation, which came out last year.)

I have to start by saying that I really loved it.

It was exciting, fun, mysterious, and quite entertaining.

Robert Downey, Jr. played Sherlock Holmes brilliantly.

He was hilarious.

And eccentric.

And careless.

And athletic.
And witty.

And incredibly smart... all at the same time.

Dr. Watson... the intelligent, trusty colleague/friend to Holmes.

(played by Jude Law).

Watson with his fiance, Mary.

Anyone recognize her?

She is Kelly Reilly, who was also Caroline Bingley in the 2005 Pride and Prejudice.

Her character was a lot nicer in this movie.

I loved this part!

Oh, and this fight scene was pretty cool.

Clever Irene Adler... Sherlock's past love interest.

I really love how everything comes together at the end of the movie.

I won't give any details away for anyone who hasn't seen it, but the plot was great.

The soundtrack is just plain amazing.

Hans Zimmer did a fantastic job!
I have to say that Track #11 is my personal favorite on the CD.

It's quite possibly one of my favorite songs... ever.

Yes, in summary, this movie is now a big favorite of mine (in case you couldn't tell). ;)

Another round of movie quotes, that is. I had so much fun with this when I did it way back in July, and I think everyone else enjoyed it as well, right? ;)

So... I've put some more quotes together for y'all to guess! But first, let's review the rules, shall we?

Long Time, No Post!

Just a note to let all of you know that I'm still here. Sorry for the extreme lack of posts lately. I can't believe it's been nearly three weeks since I last updated! My goodness.

I've mainly been keeping busy with school and sewing, so blogging just hasn't happened. I'll try to get some new posts put together soon though! I've got a movie quote game in the works, and I might share about some of the sewing projects I've been working on as well.

Thank y'all for bearing with me and being such amazing readers! You have no idea how much you all mean to me. You're the best! ;)

Wow. I think today was one of the most gorgeous days we've had all year! Seriously. It was beautiful. I took advantage of it, and went out to our backyard for the afternoon. The lighting was so yummy for pictures, I couldn't resist bringing my camera out too. That happens a lot. ;)

Apparently, the cool weather had our cat Remy a little frisky. He was rolling around in the leaves and having so much fun! I snapped a million photos of him, most of them turning out ridiculously blurry and weird. But... this one shot made it all worth it:

Isn't he adorable? And did I mention he's over 14 years old?

Mmm hmm. Let me tell you, he sure doesn't act like it!

On a side note, Blogger's photo uploading system has been giving me some problems lately. I'm thinking about hosting my photos through Photobucket or Flickr if Blogger doesn't straighten itself up soon. :P It might be a good idea to change now anyway, considering I'll eventually run out of space here on Blogger. I'll see what happens...

Miscellany Monday

1. Already a week? Wow, I can't believe it's been a whole week since my last post! Isn't that terrible? I'm so sorry about that. To tell you the truth though, I really haven't felt like blogging lately. Pretty pitiful excuse, right? Oh, well... maybe I'll feel up to some posting this week. (I really need to put together some pictures from our trip!)

2. Beautiful autumn. It's the best season ever. Enough said. ;)

3. I love me some baseball! I'm not really big on sports, but I do love to watch a good baseball game. And the MLB playoffs are getting me just a little excited. Okay, maybe a lot. Right now I'm pulling for the Rangers (over the Yankees), and the Phillies (over the Giants). What about you? Do you enjoy watching baseball... or any other sport?

4. While we're talking about sports... I even watched some football games this weekend. This was big for me. I really did enjoy them though. But... baseball is better, at least in my opinion.

5. A bit obsessed. If you follow me and my random jotdowns on twitter, you probably know that I am currently loving houndstooth. Like, really loving it. If I see something with a houndstooth print on it, I'm all over it. Particularly black & white houndstooth. So of course, it's only natural that I'd order a nice yard of fabric with... you guessed it - a black and white houndstooth design on it. Be on the lookout for an adorable new handbag in my Etsy shop. That is, if I don't decide to keep it for myself. Trust me, it's gonna be cute! ;)

6. The Pretzel Twister. This place makes *the* best (soft) pretzels ever! Oh my goodness -- they are just.... wonderful. Since we don't have one of these anywhere close to where we live, we had to indulge in some yummy pretzels while we were on our trip. Mmmm, mmm...

7. I ♥ shopping. A lot. JC Penney and Target were the stores of choice this past week. Thanks for the fun time, Mom!! :D

8. A self-portrait. What can I say - when I saw this big mirror on my granddaddy's truck, I had to snap a photo or two (or a hundred!) of myself. And black and white seemed like the only way to go with this one. ;)

Home, Sweet Home...

Yes, we're home from our vacation down South. It was... a blast!

Memories were made. Food was enjoyed (particularly some out-of-this-world seafood!). Pictures were taken. Laughter was abundant. Games were played. Much shopping was accomplished (including a trip to Kohl's -- love that store!). And everyone just had a good ol' time. :D

I am so thankful for each and every moment we got to spend with family and friends. The whole trip was just lovely!

I'll try to post some pictures soon. I took over 900, so it'll take me awhile to sort through them all! But... since a post is almost never complete without a photo, I'm including this one that my older sister took at a plantation we toured. The Myrtles, to be exact. (And nope, we didn't see any ghosts.) ;)

In a few short hours, we will be taking off on a road trip. Yes! I'm quite excited... which explains why I'm up in the middle of the night writing this post. haha! What can I say - traveling gets me really keyed up. :)

Anyway.

We're going to visit my grandparents, who live about 1,300 miles from here. It's gonna be a long drive. Very long. If you think about it, please say a quick prayer for our safety! Thanks so much!

We will be gone for about two weeks. I'm not planning on posting or being on Blogger until we get back (although I'll still be announcing the winners of my autumn lovelies giveaway on the 4th). Don't forget to enter yourself in the drawing, if you haven't already!

Well, according to the popular Jane Austen quiz, which I've taken many times, it turns out that I am Elinor Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility. I have to agree with those quiz results. I am definitely like Elinor -- sensible, quiet, and loyal.

Okay, despite my fear of sharks, I think I'm gonna have to go with scuba diving. For some reason, I think I would totally chicken out if I tried sky diving. I imagine myself standing in a plane, getting ready to jump, and I just know in my mind that I would never do it!

8. Favorite TV show, and why?

I Love Lucy, hands down. That's one show I will never, ever, EVER get tired of. Such a classic!

9. Are you a coffee and donuts sorta lady, or a tea and scones type of gal?

How 'bout donuts and tea? You see, I don't like coffee, but I'd rather have a donut. *wink*

10. The time machine has finally been created, and you are the first to be able to use it! What era would you travel too?

The Regency era! With all the gorgeous dresses and fun balls, that's the way I'd wanna go! ;)

First, I'd like to apologize for the sporadic posting around here lately. It seems like one week I'll have tons of post ideas and photos to share, and then the next week, "POOF! All inspiration is gone." One week can be packed full of things to do, and the next week will be a lot quieter. Anyway, I just wanted to get that out there, because I know patchy posting can be a little annoying. (Yes, I'm calling it "patchy posting." What can I say -- I love using alliteration. ;)

I digress.

Oh, goodness -- I just realized I haven't done a "miscellany monday" in over a month! Since it's been so long, I decided to squeeze one in here during the last few minutes of this Monday. I'm really hoping I'll be able to link my post up at Carissa's in time. Enjoy! :)

{3} Another round! I'm planning on posting some more movie quotes for y'all to guess (like I did HERE). I had so much fun with that last time, I would definitely like to do it again! I just need to find enough quotes for another round...

A New 'Do!

*Ahem* Yes, I know I said I was back in my last post, yet my blog has been as quiet as ever! Why is that? Well, to tell you the truth, I've just been a bit uninspired when it comes to blogging lately. I haven't felt like putting together posts, writing, taking pictures, etc. Sometimes I have to get away from things for awhile before I start feeling creative again. You know what I'm talking about, right? (Oh, and another excuse for the lack of new posts could be that I've been busy, but that doesn't count. haha! ;D)

Anyway, to the point of this post. As you gathered from the title, I've gotten a haircut! A major one. Wanna see? Of course you do...

You like? I know I do. In fact, I love, love, LOVE it! It was definitely time for a change. I must tell you though, the decision was tough. It took me *forever* to decide what kind of cut I wanted! But... then I thought of this lovely lady's hairstyle:

When I saw that picture, I printed it out and brought it with me to the salon. I knew it was exactly what I wanted! And no, it's not just because I'm a huge Fireproof fantatic. Nope, not all. ;) I really do love Erin's hairstyle, and I'm so glad I decided to go with it!

♥ Friends are so special! ♥

{2} Back to school. I can't believe we're already nearing the end of August! I'll be starting back with school next week. I'm excited, but I can tell you that I will be savoring these last few days of freedom. ;) What about y'all? When does school start for you?

{3} A really good movie! Last weekend, my dad took us to see Inception. I thought it was great! Although I must admit I'll have to see it at least one more time before I understand the whole story. It usually takes me a little while to process a new movie, and this one was definitely a mind bender.

{4} Etsy is addicting. Yes, it's true. I have become extremely enthralled with the world of Etsy. It's funny, because before I started a shop of my own, I rarely even went to this site. But now.... well, let's just say I'm on there quite a bit. ;) There's so much to love! I can already tell it's going to be incredibly hard to keep any amount of money in my Paypal account. Haha!

{5} Lovely. Darling. Gorgeous. They all work. Oh my goodness, I was in JoAnn's over the weekend (as usual), and I immediately noticed these two fabrics. It was love at first sight. ;D Whenever I make another Etsy sale, I'm planning on going back to get a few more yards. There's just something about the combination and colors that I love...

{6} On time... for once. Yes, I will actually have this miscellany monday up on time, and even a little bit early. I'm usually posting these late on Monday nights, so this is a big accomplishment here. ;)

{1} Etsy. As you all know, starting an Etsy shop was one of my main goals for this summer. I'm so happy to be able to cross that off my list! That was a huge accomplishment for me, and I can't wait to see how it goes. More items will be coming soon, along with my giveaway! :)

This is my favorite bag that I've listed so far. You'd better snatch it up... before I decide to keep it for myself. haha! Just kidding. ;D

{2} Fabric steals. Speaking of sewing, earlier this week I was able to order lots of fabric for practically nothing. Fabric for $2.49 a yard is very hard to come by, so I was really excited to find out that fabric.com was having such an amazing sale. (The sale ends on Monday, so if you're interested, hurry over to check it out!)

{3} Baking. We had a friend of my dad's over for supper tonight, and I made these really yummy dessert bars. It's been quite awhile since we've had them... and boy, were they were good!

{4} Sewing machine discoveries. I've been taking the time to explore some of the features on my new-ish sewing machine. That's been a lot of fun! Look what I discovered yesterday:

{5} Photography. I'm almost always taking pictures, so photography could be on the list pretty much all the time. Out of the many pictures I took this week though, this one has to be my favorite...

Oh my goodness, I am soooo excited to let all of you know that I've finally gotten my Etsy shop up and running! Yes... it's true. After lots of planning, research, and not to mention sewing, I'm finally an official Etsian! Isn't that exciting? ;-)

Monday Night Musings...

Well, I thought I'd sit down here and do a little rambling before I head off to bed. After all, today is miscellany monday over at Carissa's blog. I hope all of you will enjoy reading! :-)

{1} Sweltering summer days. WHEW... it's been *hot* here! Summer is most definitely my least favorite season. All the heat just doesn't agree with me. I'm already (eagerly) looking forward to the fall. haha! In the meantime, I'll have to live with these 90-100 degree temperatures though.

{And the sprinklers will continue running.}

{2} Feeling musical. I haven't had a playlist on my blog for quite awhile. I never can decide whether to put one on here or not. What do you think? Is music on a blog distracting or not? I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions! I've decided to put a playlist on here so you can tell me exactly what you think about it! I rather like the "miscellaneous melodies" myself. Hmmm... {EDIT: I've decided to set my playlist to where it won't play automatically. That way, it's still here... but only if you want to listen to it.} =)

{3} A lovely movie. This evening, I watched Roman Holiday... for the first time! Isn't that ridiculous? I can't believe I'd never seen it before. Not sure how that happened, but I really enjoyed watching it tonight!

I first saw this on my friend Raquel's blog a couple of weeks ago, and I had so much fun with it! So... I've decided to put together my own list of quotes from some of my favorite movies (and shows) for you to guess. Just read the rules and start guessing away!

Precious Little Memories...

Do you ever have those times when you just want to be little again? When your biggest dilemma was choosing whether to have goldfish or peanut butter crackers for a snack? When you had no worries, other than having the head of your favorite Barbie doll popped off by your little sister? And when you had the best time building "clubs" out of blankets in the living room?

^ 2-year old me... ;-) ^

Oh, to be a little girl again. To go back to that perfect age of childlike innocence. A time when the pressures and dangers of this world were completely unknown and unthought-of. Sadly, there's no way back to that precious point in time. No way to recapture those moments when everything seemed so simple.

But even though childhood is impossible to relive, there will always be memories. I know I've got my share to treasure...

Like the summer days me and my sisters went swimming in our little inflatable pool. Those nights secretly spent playing with stuffed animals in the dark. Those countless afternoons of swinging and playing in our huge backyard. And I'll never forget all the times Pop took us to our unbelievably fun neighborhood park. Now those were some happy days! Days that I'll never forget. Simple, beautiful memories.

And these are all things worth recalling, remembering, and cherishing... forever. Don't you agree? :-)

All for an Air Hogs plane...

Oh. my. goodness. I had no idea that this day, what seemed to be a normal and uneventful Wednesday, would hold so many fun memories! Before I tell you the hilarious story, let me give y'all a little background info first...

My brother Josh got this Air Hogs RC plane for his birthday. He's just now starting to play with it. (His birthday was way back in January!) Anyway, he took it out to our backyard for some practice over the weekend, and he ended up flying it up onto our roof. Twice. The first time Pop got it down for him. But the second time, Josh managed to make it land in a very hard-to-reach spot. Yes, we probably could have gotten the plane down with a really tall ladder, but then I wouldn't have this story to tell. ;)

Since Josh hasn't had his "new" plane to play with for a couple of days now, he's been trying to come up with ways to get it down. Today I decided to get involved, which eventually led to my sisters and my mom getting involved too. I love being the initiator. haha!

First rescue attempt: Josh and I decided to make a "lasso" with some rope we had in our garage. I tried running up to the roof and flinging the rope up where the plane was. Yes, I probably looked ridiculous and possibly crazy, but who cares? I got so close to where the plane was lots of times, but never close enough to actually reach it. It was pretty frustrating... and tiring after awhile!

but this kind of gives you and idea of what we were trying to do.

After attempting the lasso idea multiple times, we gave up. At least for a little while.

When we came inside for a break (and some much-needed water), Josh decided to call his good friend (who's name is also Josh). Of course Josh told him about what we had just been doing. Josh (not our Josh, the other Josh) suggested bouncing a ball up onto the roof to get the plane down. So we headed back out a few minutes later.

Only this time, my mom and sisters got more involved. This whole thing sort of turned into a challenge. We had to get that plane off the roof, and we had to be creative about the way we did it! :)

Second rescue attempt: We decided to get up on our deck, where we could see the plane, and attempted throwing some lightweight balls at it. We made progress (and I'm sure the strong gusts of wind helped some too). Once we got it closer to the edge of the roof, Mom tried the rope idea again, which worked a lot better this time!

So... after throwing balls at the plane a million times and moving it with a "lasso", (along with some help from the wind), we were finally able to get it down on the ground again! Other than a slightly bent wing, it looks good, and it's working well!

To end this long story, me and Josh were outside flying his plane this evening, and we accidentally flew it back up on the roof again! LOL! :D This time it was higher up and in an even more out-of-the-way spot... which was actually good, because the wind blew the plane down within five minutes. WHEW! Boy, were we relieved.

Now.... I'm extremely tired and quite sunburned. Everything was worth it though. Just being able to make so many funny memories makes it all worth it for me. :-)

Catching Up ~ Summer with a Purpose: Week Three

Wow, is it really already July? I can't believe that. Seriously, where does the time go?! I do apologize for my lack of posts (again), and I'm hoping to catch up a bit with this post. (To learn more about "Summer with a Purpose", just click HERE.)

So the number one thing that's been keeping me busy? Sewing. I've been super busy making bag... after bag... after bag! It's been fun, and I'm getting a nice selection of stuff to list on Etsy. I should be ready to set up my shop real soon! I'm super excited about that! :-)

Writing letters is something that I've been trying to keep up with. I'm *so* bad at writing my friends back on time, and I'm really making an effort to break that bad habit. The other day I sat down and wrote four letters in a row! Let me just say, typing definitely has its benefits. lol! :D

I've also been working on some Rosetta Stone Spanish. I'm really wanting to finish that by the end of the summer. I've been working on it for way too long, and it would be nice to finally complete it!

Oh, and guess what I decided to start reading again? The Elsie Dinsmore series! I actually only read about half of it a few years ago, so I'm determined to read the whole series this time around! I ♥ those books so much, and I've been enjoying every page.

Boy, was I excited when I saw that they were doing a whole week on pets. Talk about loads of cuteness! Anyway, I had such a hard time choosing which photo to enter! Well, it seems like I'm a day behind with my last couple of posts, here. The clock on our computer is reading 11:58, so by the time I finish this, it will technically be Tuesday. But... {1} Earlier today, I was taking pictures of Sam (a slightly annoyed Sam, that is), and I think this is my favorite. His expression is just hilarious. I wonder what cats thinks about...

{2} I don't know about you, but I really don't like it when someone calls my name, and when I reply, they just say... "Oh, never mind." Josh did that to me earlier, and I was like, "Come on, Josh, tell me!

{3} Have any of you seen Toy Story 3 yet? I really want to go see it! The other two movies were really cute, so I'm wondering what this third one will be like. Plus, I haven't been to the movie theater in ages (mostly due to the lack of good, decent movies out there)!

{4} I'm really bad about replying to letters and e-mails! Last week, I finally had enough of my procrastination, and I got caught up on writing all my friends back. I was just shocked when I looked back on one of my friend's letters, and saw that they'd written it way back in April. Yikes!

{5} I've got two sewing projects going right now. I'm working on a bag like the one in this post (only with different fabric), and I'm also working on a vintage apron. My Etsy shop will (hopefully) be coming soon. If only I could think of a name for it.

{6} Do you ever read your own blog? I was just doing that earlier, and I thought it was kinda funny. It's definitely interesting to look back on older posts. Haha!

{7} I admire anyone who can decorate a cake. I attempted to decorate Pop's Father's Day cake yesterday, and the results were pretty pitiful. I wrote "Happy Father's Day" on it, and I could just barely read the "Day." I really should take cake decorating classes! ^_^

Summer... with a purpose!

Summer. When I hear that word, it's hard not to think about lazy days of sleeping in, watching TV, and just goofing off. It's really sad how summer is labeled by many (inlcuding myself sometimes!) as a season to just kick back and relax. Instead, these weeks should be a time when many things are accomplished. A time to be productive!

My friend Emily has decided to start a blog project to combat summer laziness! You can head over to her blog and read this post to learn more about it. Basically, we're all going to help each other be productive by posting every Friday about something we've done during the week. Isn't that a wonderful idea?

To get started, I'm going to list a few things I'd like to get done this summer. (These are some of the main things I'd like to do, but I'll also be posting about other "smaller" things I get accomplished.)

Finish 11th grade. Even though it's June, I've still got a lot of school work that needs to be done! I'm really going to be concentrating on getting that accomplished ASAP. ;-)

Open an Etsy shop. I've been putting this off for a long time. It's something that I know will be a big project, so I guess that's why I just haven't done it yet. I would love to finally get a shop up and running though!

Read, read, read! I've got so many books on my reading list. I just need to make time to actually read them. I'm going to make a point to read at least 10 books. That may not seem like a lot to you, but it is for me! It's not that I don't enjoy reading. I guess I'm just not an avid reader. So... 10 books seem like plenty! :-)

Finish whatever I start! I've got a bad habit of jumping from one project to another. I need to focus on taking one project at a time. I know this will help me accomplish much more.

Memorize Bible verses. This is something I need to concentrate on. I used to memorize Scripture a lot more... I really need to get back to doing that again!

Try new recipes. I really want to venture into the kitchen more. I need to get in there and try some new things! This will be fun... and probably interesting too. =D

So those are just a few of my "main" plans for this summer. I'm really excited about this. Now that all you bloggers know some of my goals, I feel more accountable for the way I spend the coming days! What are your plans for the summer?

Yes, I'm so thrilled to present all of you with my fresh, new design! Isn't it amazing?! It'll take some getting used to, especially since I kept my old design for so long, but it was definitely time for a change. This seems so much brighter and cleaner, which is exactly what I wanted. I'm also really loving the wider post area, and the fact that I can post extra large pictures now. That's a big plus for me. ;-)

Now, in order to give credit where it's due, I must tell you that none of this is my doing. My dear friend Hannah designed everything you see here! She's amazingly talented with web design, and I'd definitely recommend her if you're wanting a new look. She was lots of fun to work with, and I'm completely loving my new design!

I've still got a few little kinks to work out. I need to work on some different pages for the header (about me, contact me, etc.), and I'll also be changing a couple of sidebar gadgets, but this is the basic look.

I Heart Faces Challenge... Babies!

This afternoon, our church had a picnic at the park. I'm so glad I decided to bring my camera along, because I was able to get some fun pictures. I especially enjoyed snapping a few of the newest baby in our church, little Providence. And when I found out that the i heart faces theme for the week is "babies", I just had to enter her adorable little face!

Awww.... what a cutie pie. ;-)

I hope you've all had a lovely Sunday. Just so y'all know, the look of things will be changing around here really soon. I can't wait... I think you're all gonna love the new design just as much as I do! :-)

Just recently, I was blessed with (i.e. I won) a $35 gift certificate to Marie-Madeline Studio. Now I love giveaways, but I mean, this was the perfect one for me to win! Really. I've mentioned this before, but I am a complete fabric hoarder! Have been ever since I learned how to sew. And right when I found out that I'd won this giveaway, I knew exactly what I was gonna get: fabric, fabric, and more fabric!

So after browsing MMS's site for..... quite awhile (haha), here's what I decided on (and yes, the total ended up being over $35, but why are you surprised? ;-)

I immediately fell in love with the Plain Jane Aqua

collection. The colors are just so bright and cheery!

And when their Poodle collection was released, I knew I had to have some! Let me tell you, this stuff is even prettier in person! :)

Well, that's what I got with my gift certificate. But.... there's more! MMS recently had one of their lovely bundle sales. All the fabric usually sells before I get a chance to even look at it, but this time, I caught their sale right after they'd posted it! And here's what I snatched up:

I was super excited when I found out that I had actually "won" this! Oh, yeah. :D

Okay, so maybe not, but I had to work this picture onto my blog somehow. (I don't know why, but I completely ♥ this photo. There's something about it.) Besides, I actually did play a game of Candy Land yesterday, while I was babysitting. The three year old I was watching really enjoyed the first game, but when we decided to play again, he quickly lost interest...

Anyway.... sorry for not posting all week long. I've been busy. I had two babysitting jobs, I've been working on some sewing pattern designs (those are still in progress), I got to watch some of the the Scripps National Spelling Bee, and I've just been livin' and lovin' life. :-)

I'll try to get a better post up soon. In the meantime.... have a beautiful, fabulous, and lovely Sunday, everyone!!!

{1} Yesterday our church had a cookout. It was lots of fun, and I ended up with over 300 pictures on my camera by the time we got home. Here I am with a couple of my sweet friends:

{2} Last week, I got a new sewing machine! It's the Brother SQ-9000. You can go HERE to read all about it. One word I'd use to describe it: AMAZING. I *love* it!!! =)

{3} Now that I've got a new best friend, I've been busy sewing once more. I'm back to making my "bianca" handbags again. Here's my most recent one:

{4} We had hamburgers & french fries for supper tonight, and I was just stuffed when I got finished! What a filling meal! WOW. =D

{5} How come I always end up with a million pictures of Sam on my camera?! I mean, really... it's pretty ridiculous. I guess I just have a hard time resisting his cute little face. Then I find him showing up in quite a few of my posts on here. But....

... can you blame me??

{6} Between Saturday's backyard shoot, and yesterday's cookout, I probably took about 800 pictures. My camera's had a busy weekend, for sure. Needless to say, I've been giving it a little rest today. :-)

{7} And now it's technically Tuesday here, but I'm gonna change the time on this post to 11:59 P.M. That way I'll have posted it on Monday, not Tuesday. Right? haha ^_^

Wow.... I can't believe how gorgeous today was! The weather was perfect. There was a soft breeze blowing. Birds were chirping. Flowers were blooming... everywhere! I was out in our backyard for a good part of the day, just taking picture after picture. What a wonderful, beautiful, amazing world we live in!!! God's creation is truly awesome.

Of course, I had to share some of my favorite pictures from the day with all of you. I bet I took at least 500, so these are just a few of my favorites. (And I just couldn't resist putting Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" on my playlist for this post. I really love that song, and it came to my mind when I started this post.) So enjoy the pictures... and the song too. ;-)

Giveaways. One of the many benefits of blogging.... am I right? ;-) You enter one after another, in hopes of winning something super cute. It rarely happens that your name is actually drawn as the winner, but when it does, "exciting" is the first word that comes to mind. At least for me.

You know, I just recently won a giveaway over at Bramblewood Fashion. My prize came in the mail yesterday, and I am loving it. Isn't it beautiful? Cute? Pretty? Wonderful? Adorable? Gorgeous? Sweet? Yep, I thought so. :-)

I just couldn't resist sharing that with y'all. Plus, I realized that I haven't posted a single picture of myself since my birthday. Yeah, that was way back in February. Sorry about that. It's just that I'm almost always the one *behind* the camera. And the fact that I don't particularly like being in pictures might have something to do with it too. But... I like to see what all my blogging friends look like, so there I am. Hopefully it won't be so long before I post a picture of myself again. Hopefully. Alright, now I'm officially rambling. ^_^

New Sewing Machine?

As I mentioned in my last post, my Singer is currently ~~broken~~. No.... out of order. (I just hate to use the word "broken.") :( You know, in this short amount of time, I've *really* missed sewing. I've missed working on my fun projects. I've missed being able to feel the satisfaction of "a job well done." I've just missed hearing that steady "hummm" that can only come from my dear, wonderful Singer.

But since it is a beginner machine and fixing it will probably end up costing more than it's worth, it looks like I'll be getting a new machine! My wonderful parents are going to let me pick out something a little bit nicer and more advanced. So right now, I'm browsing the internet, reading reviews, and comparing many, many different models.

I'm pretty excited, although it will be sad saying "good-bye" to my Miss Singer. (Yes, I actually named my machine. :D) But really... that's where my sewing journey began. Grasping new skills and techniques. Sewing my first buttonholes and zippers. Making countless gifts for friends. *Sigh* So many great memories. It's been fun, and Miss Singer has been good to me. :)

But..... sometimes you have to let go of old friends and say "hello" to new ones. And I must admit, I am getting very eager to see who my new friend ends up being. ;)

Random is my middle name. :)

Okay, so I'm thinking I should've saved my last post for tonight. I totally forgot about participating in Carissa's miscellany monday meme today. But... maybe I can muster up some more random facts for all of you. I'm sure I can. :) Let me see...

{1} I've been browsing digital scrapbooking websites for.... uh, quite awhile today. (I'm getting a new blog design from my wonderful friend Hannah, just in case you're wondering.) Very, very exciting! :)

{2} I think it's pretty much impossible for me to do a post without at least one picture in it. I don't know... my posts just don't seem complete without some photos. You know what I mean?

{3} Little Women is not only one of my favorite books, I also love the movie. And the soundtrack is just wonderful too. "Orchard House" is my favorite song. Be sure to listen to it ^ up there. ^ ;-)

{4} I was sewing a t-shirt apron yesterday, when my machine totally jammed on me. It doesn't look like something I'll be able to fix. I'm gonna have to see how much it will cost to get it repaired and running again. If it's too much, I'll probably just end up buying another machine. I'm really feeling lost without my Singer. :(

{5} On a happier note... I'm sooo excited right now, because my absolute favorite show is being released on DVD tomorrow (Tueday)! Yep, that's right. "Sue Thomas F.B. Eye" is finally gonna be available to buy. I know what'll be on my next birthday list. ;-)

{6} And last, but probably the most random of all.... I was born with no hair. Yep, it's true. Pop called me "potato head." lol! :D The funny part is, now I've got some of the thickest and longest hair in our family. :)
